John Woods was Molly's husband. His company, Humanichs, designed androids, including his "son," Ethan. He is portrayed by cast member Goran Visnjic.
Biography[]
John intervened after Ethan exhibited aggressive behavior toward a human child. John and Julie Gelineau use Ethan as a demonstration in an attempt to gain funding for the project. John loses his temper when challenged and is denied funding for the project. After being denied funding by the board, including Femi Dodd, John meets with Hideki Yasumoto, who offers private funding. He appears in season 1 as a main character and the one who binds Ethan as his (and Molly Woods') robot human son. In season 2 episode 1, John appears to have an argument with Julie Gelinaeu over the government's plans for the Humanics company. After this, he is killed when his car is overridden and leaves him trapped on some train tracks before getting ran over by a train. Molly blames Julie for John's death, but later on, she finds out that TAALR, a presidential assistant robot, was the one who killed her husband. This was to prevent him from shutting down the Humanics. During this episode, Molly also discovers John's affair with Julie, which greatly upsets her. John is mentioned again in the series, due to his creation of the expiration dates in the Humanics, and he is also mentioned as he was the one to provide Ethan with a Firewall, stopping him from being shut down with all the other robots.
